In cooperation with researchers from the Acibadem University, the Turkish branch of Therapyte has applied for the Ferring Grants Programme for Equity in Reproductive Medicine and Maternal Health. In line with Ferring’s ongoing commitment to building families of every shape and size the programme provides grants of EUR 20,000 for research projects aimed at raising awareness and ultimately tackling racial and LGBTQ+ inequities.
Our study generally focuses on same-sex couples and their path of becoming parents, regardless of whether they are male or female. We plan to conduct a qualitative study, an action research, to identify the health needs of same sex couples and barriers to accessing ART services. Also, an online survey and guidelines prepared accordingly are going to be created to reach LGBT+ couples searching for ways to parenthood in the Republic of Türkiye.
The research will be led by N. Yeşim Yasin, an Associate Professor of Acibadem University, School of Medicine, the author of dozens of publications and a speaker of national and global medical conferences, including hot topic of 2022 such as Course on Discrimination in Health Care Services at the 25 th Annual Congress of Turkish Thoracic Society. Professor Yasin is a nominee of prestigious awards such as “Exceltis Women’s Health Award” (2017) and “ 1 st Golden Helmet Award: The Best Academic Work” (2010).
